In January 2017 - We were approached by 3 friends to help manage a group with a vision -
That group became TABOU - 4 young lads from Essex who were writing funky soulful pop music.
Their first single dropped in April 2017.
Debut track ‘Honey’ was released in April 2017 and scored the chaps a lot of success || including;
Airplay on BBC Introducing in Essex and subsequently BBC Radio 1, Sticky also facilitated plays on Soho Radio and a live interview on air with none other than Virgin Radio DJ and musical oracle Eddy Temple Morris - who chose the track as for his ‘Spotify playlist of 2017’ - Soundcloud hits on that track sit at 45k currently.
A year later - 12.04.18 - and Sticky and TABOU have decided to call it a day.
Working together was a laugh and a half, we enjoyed putting together videos and creating high quality content, we built a seriously good reputation for the boys in Essex and the monthly Sticky Residency for the boys in Southend on Sea saw them play packed gigs.
Numerous gigs via Sofar Sound in London also helped solidify their reputation to a captive audience of music lovers - and following their most recent show also presented the boys with the opportunity to play at Ronnie Scott’s.
We booked festivals both here and abroad, and garnished interest from an independent community label in the USA.
The most important thing though, was that we had a real laugh doing it.
Unfortunately difficulties caused tension in the camp and the time came for a new challenge and a fresh start for all involved.
We would like to wish the band all the success in the World going forwards and are certain they are going places.
Sticky are humbled and proud to be able to say that we were involved from the very start.
What an amazing first project for Sticky to kick off our management career with and whilst we made a lot of mistakes, we also learned more than we thought possible in such a short space of time.
Keith Richards once said of music ‘If it’s in the bones, then it’s in the bones’ ... so Sticky will always have that as it’s lifeblood.
More exciting news to come soon.
For now though...
After a wonderful year - Sticky and TABOU will no longer be working together || but what a year it’s been || We’ve learnt so much, had a blast and are now ready for new challenges.
Sticky wishes the boys all the success in the world moving forwards.
This is the last piece of work we did together - a live performace of their latest track.
